All things MOM – Mother’s Day, 2012

Aside

In case you can’t find the popular pink rose, garden roses are also beautiful and they look very similar to peonies.

Mother’s Day is almost upon us! Most of us know that Flowers are a very popular way to show we love Mom, but what is the most popular type of flower? Here are the top five from last year:

1. Carnations – specifically White Carnations

2. Roses – all sizes and colors are popular

3. Mixed bouquets – get your florist to design one with their freshest flowers!

4. Tulips – who doesn’t love tulips!

5. Iris’s – a favorite spring flower

Design tip of the month: Hydrating the Hydrangea

Whenever using hydrangea, make sure they get plenty of water. Note the word HYDRA (hydrate). Hydrangea flowers are produced from early spring to late autumn. Here are some tips to make them last longer:

  • Lightly spray the flowers with water to keep them hydrated.
  • If they start to wilt, dip the entire flower in the sink full of water for a few minutes, recut the stem & put in water with flower food.

These tips, if applied correctly will help perk up the flowers within a few hours or overnight.
